SAEL to invest Rs 22,000 crore in AP across green energy, data, and ports
SAEL Industries has already commissioned 600 MW in a record time of nine months, underscoring its execution capabilities as it scales up investments in Andhra Pradesh under the MoU.

Amaravati: SAEL Industries Limited is investing Rs 22,000 crore in the state across renewable energy, biomass, data centres and port development, aiming for an employment impact of 7,000 direct jobs and 70,000 indirect jobs.
Record commissioning by SAEL
SAEL Industries has already commissioned 600 MW in a record time of nine months, underscoring its execution capabilities as it scales up investments in Andhra Pradesh under the MoU.
Investment scope
The MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh outlines a multi-sector pipeline including utility-scale solar and storage, biomass-based power, a hyperscale-ready data centre, and port-linked infrastructure to anchor industrial growth and logistics efficiency. The major areas of proposed collaboration are -
- Solar and Storage: Seven solar/BESS projects totalling over 1,750 MW solar with grid-scale storage are proposed across Kadapa and Kurnool districts, including NHPC and SECI-linked tenders, enabling round-the-clock renewable power for industry and data centres.
- Biomass: A 200 MW biomass program through eight 25 MW plants is planned, creating significant rural employment and agricultural residue value chains.
- Data Centre: A data centre investment of Rs. 3,000 crore with associated high-quality direct and indirect jobs is envisaged, leveraging Andhra Pradesh’s growing digital infrastructure.
- Port Development: A port development investment of Rs 4,000 crore is proposed to strengthen maritime logistics and export competitiveness.
AP’s clean energy policy
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nara Lokesh said, “I’m delighted that SAEL industries Ltd. will be investing Rs 22,000 crores in Andhra Pradesh. As one of the first projects commissioned under the State government’s integrated clean energy policy, SAEL has demonstrated excellent execution expertise. We look forward to their investment under various state government policies and incentive frameworks.”
Roles and facilitation
Under the MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, SAEL will bring investment, technology, design, and equipment to set up the projects, while APEDB will facilitate clearances and inter-agency coordination, with allotments and incentives processed by the competent departments as per policy and due process.
Governance and timelines
The MoU is valid for 12 months from the date of signing, with provisions for confidentiality, amendments by mutual consent and compliance with applicable laws of India. The implementation will follow tendering/competitive bid norms wherever applicable.
