Hyderabad: Keto Motors Private Limited, a Telangana-based electric vehicle manufacturer, signed an MoU with the Government of Telangana to establish a Greenfield electric bus manufacturing facility at Jadcherla with a proposed investment of Rs 300 crore.
The MoU was signed during the recently concluded Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 in the presence of Minister for Industries and Commerce, D Sridhar Babu.
A public note stated that the collaboration will reinforce Telangana’s emergence as a national hub for advanced electric mobility and EV manufacturing.
Facility to generate 2,000 direct and indirect jobs
As per the agreement, the state-of-the-art plant will manufacture a comprehensive range of 9-metre to 13-metre electric buses, designed for both intra-city and inter-city public transportation. The project is expected to generate over 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities over the next three years.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sridhar Babu congratulated Keto Motors on the investment and emphasised its importance for the state’s EV ambitions.
“This initiative highlights Telangana’s rapid rise as the EV capital of India. The State government remains committed to providing world-class infrastructure, progressive policies, and a robust ecosystem to accelerate sustainable mobility solutions.”
Single ticket system for all types of commute
The group is also working on a unified digital ticketing platform, enabling commuters to travel across autos, cars and buses using a single ticket, enhancing affordability, convenience and operational efficiency.
Sharing the rationale behind this expansion, Rajeev, YSR Group Chief Marketing Officer, said, “Public transportation today first mile, middle mile and last mile operates in silos. Our mission is to bridge these gaps through a seamlessly integrated multimodal electric mobility ecosystem. While our electric three-wheelers and four-wheelers serve first and last mile connectivity, the middle-mile segment of 9m to 12m buses has significant supply and quality gaps. After extensive research, we have designed products that truly match the market need and solve this long-standing challenge.”
Keto Motors said it has established a strong foothold in the L5 electric vehicle segment with its popular Trilux (Passenger) and Bulke Plus (Cargo) three-wheelers, widely used for last-mile mobility across multiple markets.
The new MoU marks the company’s strategic entry into the electric bus segment, one of the most critical and underserved areas in public transportation.
Adding to this, Venkatesh Challa, Director, Keto Motors, said, “The industry is facing a major supply shortage of electric buses, with several fleet operators unable to procure vehicles on time. To address this bottleneck, our Jadcherla facility is being built with an initial capacity of 1,000+ buses per year, which will be expanded further based on market demand. We are committed to ensuring reliability, timely delivery, and world-class quality for India’s mobility ecosystem. This MoU is a significant step in our long-term growth plan and reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality electric mobility solutions while strengthening India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities.”
