Telangana soon to have first MSME policy among states
IT minister Sridhar Babu spoke at a day-long conclave on ‘MSMEs & Inclusive Growth’ organised by the FLO
By Newsmeter Network Published on 25 Jun 2024 1:48 AM GMTHyderabad: The Telangana State government will come up with the first MSME policy among the states which will be placed in the next Telangana Assembly session, said IT minister D Sridhar Babu.
Seeking industry suggestions in its policy drafting, he said this policy will focus on the inclusive growth of the MSME sector.
He was speaking at a day-long conclave on ‘MSMEs & Inclusive Growth’ organised by the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) in a city hotel in Necklace Road on Monday.
“The work on the development of the policy is underway. We want inclusive growth of MSMEs and the policy will strengthen them,” he said. He also said that the State would soon come up with Skill University on the lines of ISB which will be managed and run by the industry.
Sridhar Babu praises the contributions of women in industry
The conclave was formally inaugurated by Joyshree Das Verma, national president of FLO who was the special guest along with the current and past chairpersons of FLO.
Minister Dr Sridhar Babu who joined immediately after the inauguration said no world exists without women. He complimented all the women in the hall for all they have been contributing to the industrial growth of the State.
Congress and IT development
Stating that the Congress was the first to identify the potential of IT in 1992 and laid the foundation for the Software Technology Park of India, he said, “The Telangana State government is committed to its industrial growth and every sector of our governance. The governments come and go, but continuity of policy is important. Our government will continue all the rightful policies of previous governments in the best interest of the industry.”
It will also have a digital focus as that will be the future to enhance digital skills and capabilities of the future workforce, he added.
‘Coding may become obsolete’
He said that the State will have 200 GCCs (Global Capability Centres) and more are expected. “We will transform our IT industry from software development to finished products industry,” Sridhar Babu said and added that coding may soon become obsolete.
“The Y2K scenario which we witnessed in the year 2000 will be repeated in the case of AI," the IT minister added.
Hyderabad, the capital of AI
“We aim to make Hyderabad the future capital of AI. It will have a special focus on MSMEs. The past brain drain will be reversed in this case,” he added.
Another major announcement he made in response to a question was that the government is exploring possibilities of parallel rail connectivity along with the 320-km-long RRR (Regional Ring Road).
