Hyderabad: Thermo Fisher Scientific's New R&D and engineering facility, India Engineering Centre (IEC), was inaugurated in Hyderabad on Thursday.
The IEC is being set up with an investment of about US$ 15 million and will employ over 450 engineers and vendor partners.
Thermo Fisher's IEC at Hyderabad is a 42,000 sq. ft. facility that includes the engineering lab and will support new product development for laboratory and analytical solutions for Thermo Fisher's global sites. Thermo Fisher invests around $1.4 million annually in R&D.
The Hyderabad facility, which was inaugurated by Telangana IT and industries minister KTR, will have the required infrastructure to design and develop instruments, perform product reliability performance testing and verification, as well as validate products.
"I'm delighted that Thermo Fisher has chosen Hyderabad for its India Engineering Centre which reinforces Hyderabad's research and innovation prowess," said KTR at the inaugural event.
Thermo Fisher Scientific is an American supplier of scientific instrumentation, reagents and consumables, and software services.
