Toshiba Transmission to set up three new energy plants in Telangana

Tokyo: The Toshiba Transmission Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana to establish a new manufacturing facility for Surge Arresters and expand its existing manufacturing facilities for Power and Distribution transformers and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at its Rudraram plant in Telangana.

The agreement is for both conventional and renewable energy.

This investment underscores TTDI’s commitment in providing Innovative Products and Solution for TCD sector and reinforcing Telangana’s position as a premier destination for global technology and industrial investments.

The MoU was signed by special chief secretary, Jayesh Ranjan, and Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman and Managing Director, TTDI Telangana in the presence of chief minister Revanth Reddy .

Rs 562 energy project

With a planned investment of Rs 562 crore, the project will feature cutting-edge technologies, enhancing existing capacities to contribute towards the growing demand in the TCD Sector. This initiative aligns with Telangana’s vision to attract high-value investments, strengthen the state’s power sector growth plan, industrial capabilities, and create employment opportunities in the region.

Mr. Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman Managing Director, TTDI, said, "Telangana’s forward-looking policies, strong industrial ecosystem, and commitment to innovation make it an ideal destination for our latest investment. We are excited to collaborate with the Government of Telangana."

This initiative is part of TTDI’s broader vision to design, develop and manufacture TCD products for applications up to the highest Voltage level in India, supporting the ā€œMake in Indiaā€ initiative of the government. TTDI will continue to play its part in the growth of the Power Sector in the Transmission and Distribution space over the next decade.

TTDI plant in Hyderabad

TTDI is a global leader in the supply of Transmission C Distribution Equipment for both conventional and renewable energy sources. TTDI offers a range of innovative and reliable Products and Solutions for the renewable energy sector like Power Transformers, Distribution Transformers, Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and Inverter Duty Transformers.

TTDI has been successfully operating two plants at its Rudraram factory near Hyderabad. With this new investment announcement, it will set up three more new facilities and also upgrade the existing plants to expand their manufacturing capacity.
