Amaravati : Andhra Pradesh government has allocated 100 acres of land to Virupaksha Organics Limited to set up a manufacturing facility for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and organic chemicals at the IP Guttapadu Cluster in the Orvakal Node of Kurnool district.

The project involves an investment of ₹1,225 crore and has the potential to create around 1,500 direct jobs, besides substantial indirect employment across logistics, utilities, and ancillary services.

Strategic location driving pharma investments

Orvakal’s rapid rise as a pharmaceutical cluster is being driven by its proximity to Hyderabad, excellent road connectivity, availability of large, contiguous industrial land parcels, and plug-and-play infrastructure developed by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). These advantages are prompting pharmaceutical companies to expand capacities in Andhra Pradesh while remaining closely linked to Hyderabad’s established life sciences ecosystem.

MoUs signed at CII Partnership Summit in November 2025

The expansion plans of Virupaksha Organics and Sigachi Industries were formalised through MoUs signed at the CII Partnership Summit, reflecting Andhra Pradesh’s proactive investment promotion efforts and its commitment to providing speed, certainty, and scale to investors.

With multiple pharmaceutical and allied manufacturing projects now converging at Orvakal, Kurnool district is fast emerging as a key pharmaceutical manufacturing destination in South India, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s position as a competitive, industry-friendly state for life sciences investments.
