WEF: HCLTech to set up new tech center in Hyderabad; create 5000 jobs

Davos: HCLTech has announced to expand its footprint in Hyderabad with the launch of a new tech center.

The announcement followed the meeting between Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, and global CEO and Managing Director of HCLTech C Vijayakumar, on the inaugural day of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Jan 20.

The new center will be providing cutting-edge cloud, AI, and digital transformation solutions to global clients across industries such as hi-tech, life sciences, and financial services. Located in the Hi-Tech City, the 320,000 sqft facility will house 5,000 IT employees and comes with Gold Certification from the Indian Green Building Council, underscoring HCLTech's commitment to sustainable business practices.

"Hyderabad, with its world-class infrastructure and high-quality talent pool, has been a key location on HCLTech's global network. The new center will bring cutting-edge capabilities to our global client base and contribute to the local technology ecosystem" said C Vijayakumar, CEO & Managing Director, HCLTech. He invited the Chief Minister and IT and Industries Minister to formally inaugurate the new tech center next month.

Chief Minister welcomed HCLTechā€™s expansion plans and remarked: ā€œThe new tech center reaffirms Hyderabadā€™s continued attraction for global IT companies and further consolidates its position as a leading IT hub in the world.ā€

IT and Industries Minister emphasized that the state government is committed to strengthening the tech and innovation ecosystem in Hyderabad with a special focus on expanding it to tier 2 and tier 3 cities to promote jobs for local youth and encouraged HCLTech to actively consider opening an IT center in a second city in Telangana.

He assured full support to facilitate HCLTechā€™s continued growth in the state. HCLTech has been present in Hyderabad since 2007. With the addition of the new center, its footprint will span five centers across the city with a capacity of 8,500 seats.
