World Quantum Day: CM Naidu to inaugurate two advanced quantum computer test beds on Apr 14

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is set to emerge as a hub of India’s quantum technology revolution.

On World Quantum Day, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate two advanced quantum computer test beds on April 14—one at SRM University, Amaravati, and another virtually at Medha Towers in Gannavaram.

The projects are part of the ambitious Amaravati Quantum Valley initiative

These cutting-edge Quantum Reference Facilities will make Andhra Pradesh the first state in the country to establish a dedicated ecosystem for quantum testing and certification.

Developed using indigenous technology, these facilities will support the testing and certification of quantum computing hardware, paving the way for advanced technological growth in Amaravati. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance research, innovation, and industry collaboration in the fast-growing quantum technology sector.

The 1Q test bed, established by Qubitech at Medha Towers, and the 1S test bed, developed at SRM University Amaravati using superconducting technology, will function at extremely low temperatures close to -273°C. These compact quantum systems are designed to rigorously test quantum components and devices.

The open-access facility at SRM University will provide valuable opportunities for researchers, students, startups, and companies working in quantum technologies by offering a platform for experimentation and validation.

Notably, both facilities have been built entirely with domestically developed components, strengthening India’s push toward self-reliance in deep-tech innovation. Prominent institutions such as the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Indian Institute of Science, and Defence Research and Development Organisation have provided technical support for the initiative.

The inauguration event will see participation from representatives of the National Quantum Mission, IIT professors, leading scientists, quantum startup founders, research scholars, and domain experts. Additionally, arrangements have been made for over 1.5 lakh students from universities and colleges across the state to attend the event virtually.
