Busy on phone, engineering student slips to death

Hyderabad: Glued to her mobile phone, a 20-year-old engineering student accidentally slipped from the top of a building and died in Hyderabad, the police said on Friday.

Originally from Guntur district, victim Mukkadala Ayushini lived in a three-storey building with her parents at Bachupally. Around 9.30 (PM or AM?), she was on a phone call and just walked up to the terrace.

The police said Ayushini perhaps moved too close to the edge, slipped and landed on the ground. The building watchman's wife Laxmi first spotted the young woman in a pool of blood and alerted the residents.

Ayushini was taken to a nearby private hospital where she died of her injuries after an hour. According to the police, Ayushini's parents do not suspect any foul play and believe that their daughter's death was an accident.

A case has been registered and the matter is being probed.
