CCTV footage of men leaving liquor bottles at TDP leaders home goes viral

Hyderabad: Ahead of the Tenali municipal elections, a CCTV footage of a man leaving boxes of alcohol bottles at a TDP leader's house has gone viral. It is being alleged that it was done to book the leader in an illegal Excise case and prevent him from filing the nomination for the election.

The leader is from the fourth ward of Tenali. Two unknown men came to his residence in the early hours on 13 March. One of the men jumped over the wall and made his way to the terrace. The man then placed the box of alcohol under the water tanker. He then silently left on his motorbike. The men were unaware of the CCTV cameras and the entire incident was recorded.

The next morning, Excise officials conducted searches at the TDP leader's house. They directly went upstairs and collected the box of alcohol. The TDP leader was not home at the time, hence the officials took one of his relatives into custody.

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu said the police did not bother to take action even after the TDP leader filed a complaint. Mr Naidu wrote a letter to the Election Commission regarding the same. He also said that the Excise officials directly going to the terrace and collecting the bottles was suspicious. He alleged that the police and the Excise officials are working with the YSRCP leaders and have ganged up against him.
