Hyderabad: An elderly woman was injured after the notorious chaddi gang struck at Kuntloor village of Hayathnagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad and took away 20 tolas of gold and Rs 70,000 cash. Locals have alleged that the police responded late despite being alerted immediately.
Sources said a gang of six to seven robbers entered the village around 1 am on Friday and spent nearly an hour in two houses. They asked a senior citizen to remove her earrings and hand the jewellery to them.
The intruders snatched the earrings when the elderly woman refused to part with her ornaments, leaving her injured.
Raising questions over the Telangana police's claims of quick response during an emergency, the victims said they had informed the police in no time, but a patrolling arrived only after the robbers calmly walked away.
The Hayathnagar police are probing into the crimes.
