Chennai customs recover Rs 7 lakh gold from toilet

The Twitter handle of the Chennai Customs read, "25.08.2019 AIU officer on routine surveillance recovered a bundle from drainage of toilet in arrival hall. 2 gold bars weighing 100 gram each, of 24 K purity, totally weighed 200 grams valued at Rs. 7.8 lakhs were recovered and same seized @cbic_india #gold #
This is the second incident the first was on Saturday, August 24 where three persons were intercepted on suspicion of carrying gold and other items. After questioning, the three admitted to having concealed gold in the form of rubbery material in their rectum. As much as 937 grams of gold valued at Rs 36.51 lakh were recovered and seized under the provisions of Customs Act 1962.
In another case, five I-phones and five Apple smartwatches valued at Rs 4.20 lakh; Iranian grade-1 Termes saffron weighing 4.75 kg valued at Rs 11.5 lakh along with 12 cartons of Gudang Garam cigarettes, valued at Rs 29,000 were seized.
The seizes come after the terror threat warning issued to Tamil Nadu.
