Chief Vigilance Officer of EPDCL caught for illegal assets in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Police officer T Harikrishna had caught many corrupt officials when he was with the Anti-Corruption-Bureau (ACB). However, he had landed in a soup when ACB officials knocked on his door. ACB sleuths on December 19 found illegal assets belonging to Mr Harikrishna, who is the Chief Vigilance Officer (Assistant Superintendent of Police) of AP Eastern Power Distribution Company (EPDCL), Vizag.

ACB officials raided Harikrishna and his relativesā€™ houses in seven places, including Rajahmundry, Hyderabad and a few places in West Godavari.

Anti-Corruption officials led by DSPs BVS Nageswara Rao and BR Murthy found that Harikrishna possessed disproportionate assets over and above his known sources of income. The seized illegal assets including cash, gold, land holdings, houses and a few others estimated to be over Rs 2 crore as per the registration value (document value). However, it would easily be more than Rs 20 crore as per market rates.

Joined as the Sub-Inspector of Police in 1989, Harikrishnaā€™s rise to ASP was filled with many awards and medals. He served in ACB as an Inspector, and he had caught many corrupt officials. ACB officials said that they are counting Harikrishnaā€™s illegal assets and will disclose the exact amount later.
