Chilkalguda SI, Bowenpally constable posted at Gandhi hospital test COVID +Ve

Hyderabad: A constable from Bowenpally police station and a sub-inspector from Chilkalguda police have been tested positive for COVID 19. In the last 48 hours, four of them have been tested positive for the deadly covid-19 virus. This includes a inspector serving with the detective wing.

Both the constable and sub-inspector were discharging duties at Gandhi hospital, the nodal center for COVID 19 in Telangana.

Gandhi hospital falls under the jurisdiction of Chilkalguda police station limits and they are the first responders to any COVID related issue.

Both the officials are undergoing treatment at Gandhi hospital. Their colleagues have been advised to remain under home quarantine.

Further, their family members have also been quarantined. Health and civic bodies have taken up sanitation drives at both police stations and the areas where they were residing.

With these two persons, the number of positive cases in the police department has reached 10.

On Wednesday, a constable of Kulsumpura police deployed for COVID duties succumbed to the virus, leaving behind his wife and three children.

On Thursday, the detective inspector of Balapur police station under Rachakonda commissionerate was tested positive.
