Chilkur Balaji Temple holds special prayers to keep away Coronavirus

Hyderabad: Chilkur Balaji temple priests will perform special prayers from 10 am on Thursday in order to ward-off threat from corona virus. The belief behind the special prayer ‘Apamarjana Stotram Sudarshana Ashtakam’ is that it kills diseases and enemies. According to the priests, this is aimed at preventing and containing corona virus.

This comes amidst a global fear following the fast-spreading corona virus, which originated from China, and has taken a heavy human toll. In India, it has inflicted three people in Kerala. Overall, 24 countries are reeling under the impact of the deadly virus.

The devotees will also join in the prayers and seek divine blessings to ensure that the entire world, especially India, will remain safe from the virus, which has already claimed 490 hundreds of lives and has affected nearly 24,324 across the globe.

Speaking to Newsmeter, chief priest of the temple, CS Rangarajan said, “From 10 am on Thursday, we will pray to the deity to save the world from the disease, whose cure has not been found yet. Sarvajwara vinashaaya Sarvarogaapahaariney is an “Apaamaarjana” mantra that is recited by placing Lord Narasimha in water.”

Meanwhile, the United People’s Fellowship Church in Ramnagar, Hyderabad, on Monday started three prayer meetings a day against spread of the virus. The ritual will continue up to February 23. The prayers are scheduled from 4 am to 7 am; 10 am to 1 pm and 6 pm to 8:30 pm.
