‘Class of 80s’ meets at megastar Chiranjeevi's house in Hyderabad
By Bhavana Published on 25 Nov 2019 8:43 AM GMTHyderabad: It was a virtual filmy Who’s Who from south India that descended at the Jubilee Hills residence of megastar Chiranjeevi in Hyderabad on Sunday.
The assemblage included actors from across all languages, Telugu cinema, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam, including those like Bollywood’s Poonam Dhillon and Jackie Shroff, who has acted in a handful of pictures made down south.
Most of them were at the career peak in the 1980s and hence go by the name ‘Class of 80s’. A most remarkable way to stay in touch has been the annual reunion that sees them catching up with other’s career progress. ‘Class of 80s’ achieved a major milestone this year-a decade.

The 10th annual reunion was graced by around 40 members each dressed for the occasion and attired by the dress code, which was black and gold.
Apart from Chiranjeevi, they included yesteryear heartthrobs and contemporary veterans, including Venkatesh Daggubati, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Jagapathi Babu, Naresh, Bhanuchandar, Suman, Suresh, Prabhu, Jayaram, Rehman, Khushbu, Radhika, Poonam Dhillon, Shobana, Nadiya, Raadha, Sarita, Amala Akkineni, Menaka, Jayasudha, Sumalatha, Mohanlal, Lissy, Bhagyaraj, Jayaprada, Sharath Kumar, Aravind, Suhaasini, Revathy, Jackie Shroff and Ambika.
Missing from the gathering were Sridevi andAmbareesh, who have since passed away, and Kamal Haasan, who is recovering from a recent surgery
They have amply demonstrated that, contrary to general perceptions, despite their professional rivalry, they remain friends outside the industry.
