Complaint against Gemini TV anchor Sreemukhi for hurting sentiments of Brahmin community
By Newsmeter Network Published on 5 May 2020 12:59 PM GMTHyderabad: The Banjara Hills police have registered a case against Gemini Television channel and its anchor Sreemukhi for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Brahmin community.
The action comes after the police received a complaint from members of the community alleging that Sreemukhi and the TV channel have portrayed Brahmins in a bad light in a comedy show.
Venkataramana Sharma, in his complaint, alleged that in a recent episode of a comedy show ‘Julakataka’, which is hosted by Sreemukhi, Brahmins were shown in a bad light. Derogatory comments were also made against people belonging to the community, he said. Based on his complaint, the Banjara Hills police registered a case and started an investigation.
'Julakataka' was launched in 2018. Several filmstars and senior television stars have been judges on the show.
Sreemukhi is not only a leading anchor in the Telugu industry, but also was the runner up in the BIGG BOSS reality show's season 3. The complainant Sharma, a resident of Nallakunta have also submitted to the police, the video clippings and the links to the comedy program, in which Brahmins were allegedly show in bad light.
