Hyderabad: The election season in Telangana will kickstart with the Dubbaka Assembly bypoll followed by the municipal elections. The ruling TRS and the Opposition have already announced their candidates for the polls.

The TRS, led by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, has nominated Solipeta Sujatha for the bypoll, while the Congress candidate is Cheruku Srinivas Reddy, the son of former minister Cheruku Mutyam Reddy. With great pomp and show, the Congress had organised a rally during the nomination process amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, an analysis of the affidavit filed by Congress nominee Mr. Srinivas Reddy has revealed that he owns assets worth Rs. 2.09 crore - Rs. 19.81 lakh movable and Rs. 1.90 crore immovable assets - while his wife Arpitha has assets worth Rs. 93. 47 lakh, including Rs. 34.47 lakh in movable and Rs. 59 lakh immovable assets.

The 49-year-old from Siddipet owns large parcels of land in his hometown of Keesara and Malkagiri. Also, his children Ch. Neha, Raval, and Vijaya Laxmi own Rs. 16.30 lakh movable and Rs. 1.75 crore immovable assets.

Mr. Reddy holds an MBA degree in finance from ICBM University, Delhi, and has a clean record.

The bypoll for Dubbak Assembly constituency was necessitated after sitting TRS MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy's death following ill-health in August.
