Consumers dont have to pay extra for delivery of gas cylinders: HPCL

Hyderabad: In an RTI reply, the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) said that consumers need not pay delivery charges to persons delivering gas cylinders. It also said that it is the duty of the gas distributor to deliver the gas cylinder at the doorstep of the consumer without collecting any additional charge other than the amount mentioned in the bill.

"There are no rules or instructions to domestic gas distributors to collect extra amounts than the retail selling price indicated on the cash memo of LPG cylinder. It is the responsibility of the domestic gas distributors to deliver the gas cylinder at the doorsteps of the consumers irrespective of the floor location in the building/flats," said HPCL.

The RTI was filed by Kareem Ansari, a resident of Hyderabad, after he was asked to pay extra for the delivery of a gas cylinder.

The HPCL also clarified that consumers can refuse to pay extra charges demanded by delivery men.
