Vijayawada: A 17-year-old Dalit boy was beaten black and blue by the police for allegedly defying lockdown at Vuyyuru in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
The boy could not endure the torture and fainted on the road. Fearing that the boy may die, the police shifted him to the government hospital at Vuyyuru.
Boy’s parents and relatives immediately rushed to the hospital and raised slogan against the police. Cops, however, threatened the agitators with dire-consequences.
Even before the media personnel reached the hospital, the police shifted the boy and his family members to the home.
Sources said a trainee Assistant Commissioner of police , who is heading the police station, tried to hush up the matter.
Since the boy belonged to the Scheduled Caste community, various Dalit organizations have decided to stage a protest demonstration against the police.
Police have been harassing the common people in the name of lockdown, sources said.
