Cops book four for attack on Big Boss star Rahul Sipligunj in Prism Pub

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police has booked four people for the alleged attack on noted singer and Bigg Boss Telugu 3 winner Rahul Sipligunj at Prism Pub in Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

The police had registered the case on March 5 under charges of causing hurt and creating a nuisance, at the behest of the pub management.

As Rahul was not willing to lodge a complaint with the police, the police took the complaint from the pub management and began the investigation.

It is widely rumoured that the persons involved in the attack were close relatives of a TRS MLA from erstwhile Rangareddy district. Videos of the incident which went viral showed how the alleged attackers surrounded the singer and attacked him with beer bottles. Even as other members in the pub tried to intervene, they continued the attack. A patrolling team also immediately rushed to the spot and the staff tried to intervene and control the situation. However, the alleged attackers continued the brawl, after pushing aside the patrolling staff.

Based on the CCTV footage, police have started an investigation and are in the process of identifying the alleged attackers. They are also verifying if they have any relation with the MLA. Though it is not relevant in the investigation, police say they are verifying to know if the attackers misused the MLA’s name anywhere during the incident. Police have also asked the pub management to submit the CCTV footage of the entire day and also the list of the people who had registered themselves for the event and those who turned up. They are also questioning the bouncers from the pub present at the spot at the time of the incident.

“We are verifying all aspects. We will seek an explanation from the pub as well,” the police said.

The incident happened after the alleged attackers passed some comments at Rahul’s female friends, and he confronted them.
