Coramandel Fertilizers managers die as car plunges into Vamsadhara River

Srikakulam: Two persons including the managers of Coramandel Fertilizers Company, Visakhapatnam, died and three others suffered injuries in a road accident when in a car in which they were travelling plunged into Vamsadhara River in Srikakulam of Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as K Pavan (32) and B Chandramohan (45), both are Area Managers of Visakhapatnam based Coromandel Fertilizers.

The police said that the incident took place when the driver of the car lost control over the vehicle due to overspending and drowsiness, hit the railing of the bridge near Gotta Barrage and plunged into the river.

Two persons died on the spot with multiple injuries, and three others were rescued by the locals and police personnel by jumping into waters.

Sub Inspector of police K Govinda Rao said that the incident took place when the five persons were returning from a meeting at Odisha to Vizag.

The deceased Pawan was native of Rajahmundry in East Godavari district while Chandramohan was native of Khammam in Telangana.

The police fished out the bodies from the river and shifted to the morgue for autopsy. The injured persons were admitted to a hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.

The police have registered a case, and an investigation is on.
