Coronavirus lockdown: Wife conducts final rites of husband in Warangal

Warangal: In a heart-rending incident, a wife was forced to conduct the final rites of her husband in Thirumalagiri village under Dharmasagar mandal in Warangal urban district. Their children were unable to attend the funeral due to the lockdown.

Korem Prabhakar Reddy (48) died of heart stroke on Tuesday. His son Sai Krishna Reddy is studying in Australia and could not conduct the final rites of his father and light his funeral pyre. All flights have been suspended in the country amid the Corona virus outbreak. Prabhakarā€™s daughter Nithisha Reddy, an IT professional in Bengaluru, too, could not attend the funeral.

With both the children stranded due to the lockdown and relatives unable to reach them, Prabhakarā€™s wife Sarala conducted his final rites and lighted the pyre. Their children witnessed the funeral over video call. Less than 10 persons attended the funeral.
