Coronavirus: TSBIE allows students to write exams wearing masks

Hyderabad: Taking a cue from CBSE, Telangana Education department has allowed students to write exams wearing masks.

Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has issued formal orders permitting students to write exams while wearing protective masks.

Chief Superintendents of exams have been directed to prevent students from congregating outside the exam centers. Students have been asked to enter exam halls and sit at their designated place, as per the official release.

The education department has also directed officials to ensure cleaning of all tables, chairs, door handles, and electrical switchboards with a wet cloth dipped in disinfectant before the start of exams. Authorities have been asked to arrange liquid soap and water near the exam halls for students’ use.

The education department has also taken all precautionary measures to meet any exigency in case any student showed signs of fever, cough or cold. In such cases, the student will be placed in a different room and allowed to write the exam.

On March 5, intermediate second-year students will be writing the exam for Second Language paper.

The intermediate first-year exam started on March 4. More than 4 lakh students are appearing for the exam. The number of absentees has been registered as 4.7 per cent on Wednesday.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday announced that the students appearing for Class X and Class XII examinations can carry face masks and sanitizers in the centers.
