CoronaVirus : TTD closes all ways to Hill Shrine
By Newsmeter Network Published on 19 March 2020 11:13 AM GMTTirumala: In the wake of the increasing number of positive cases in the Andhra Pradesh, and also for the safety of the devotees, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams closed its footways at around 3.40 PM. Now, only devotees who have already reached Tirumala can have darshan on Thursday. This comes after, a devotee from Uttar Pradesh collapsed close to the temple which made the temple staff members and officials panic. He has been immediately shifted to SVIMS in Tirupati for medical examinations and also tests for coronavirus, sources said. Nineteen others who accompanied the UP based devotee were also quarantined for further investigations.
Further, Temple senior officials who organized an emergency meeting decided to close footways at Alipiri and also Srivari Mettu. They also decided to close the second Ghat road in the evening and the other one would also be closed from Thursday night. Sources said there would be no darshan from Friday afternoon planning to clear the waiting devotees.
The TTD closed all Kalyana Katta (tonsuring Centres) in Tirumala. But regular Sevas to the Mulavarulu will be performed inside the temple as usual.
