Warangal: A 45-year-old Anganwadi worker who got vaccinated on January 19 at urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) in New Shayampet of Warangal Urban district died on Sunday early morning. G Vanitha complained of chest pain on Saturday night.

The Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Dr G Srinivasa Rao said that the Adverse Event Following Immunisation(AEFI) committee is examining the matter and will submit its report to the state AEFI committee. "The state AEFI committee will, in turn, furnish its report to the central AEFI committee for taking a view," added G Srinivas Rao.

According to the news reports, the family of the deceased have filed a police complaint in Subedari police station of the district. It also came to the notice that she was suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes.

Also, an accredited social health activist (ASHA) worker, who was vaccinated on January 19, died on Sunday morning in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

Vijaya Lakshmi(44) suffered a brain stroke causing her death.

She fell ill soon after receiving the COVID19 vaccine on Tuesday. She was admitted to the Guntur Government Hospital (GGH) on January 21 after she had fainted.

The doctors declared her dead on Sunday morning and sent her body for the autopsy.

Meanwhile, her family members alleged that she died after the coronavirus vaccine was administered to her. They also said that she was a very fit person and rendered tireless services during the Covid-19 time in the state.

District collector Samuel Anand Kunar met the family of the deceased at the hospital and promised her son a job, a house site and monetary compensation from the government.

"The exact cause of the woman's death would be revealed only after a post-mortem," said Samuel Anand, district collector, Guntur.

He also maintained that not a single Adverse Event Following Immunisation(AEFI) was reported in the district..

Also, the ASHA workers staged a demonstration in front of the GGH demanding compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the deceased family.

The Collector said he would send a proposal to the state government for payment of compensation to the ASHA worker's kin, on the lines of that paid to frontline health workers who succumbed to Covid-19.

So far, 10,099 healthcare staff have been inoculated in Guntur.
