Beneficiaries who fail to download Co-Win will not be denied vaccine: Health Ministry

The Union ministry of health and family welfare, on 2 February, informed the Rajya Sabha that a person will not be denied COVID-19 vaccine if he/she cannot download the Co-Win app.

Hyderabad: The Union ministry of health and family welfare, on 2 February, informed the Rajya Sabha that a person will not be denied COVID-19 vaccine if he/she cannot download the Co-Win app.

In a written reply to a query in the Rajya Sabha, the Union minister of state for health and family welfare, Ashwini Kumar Chaubey, said the particulars of the beneficiaries are being collected and monitored through the Co-Win app.

COVID-19 funds allotted to states

The ministry also said that on 22 April 2020, the Cabinet had approved Rs. 15,000 crores to prevent, detect, and respond to the threat posed by COVID-19. "As of 15 January 2021, Rs. 11,361.67 crore has been utilized for the same. All states and Union Territories have been provided with necessary financial support under the 'India COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Package'. Rs. 6,309.90 crore has been released to the states and UTs, through the National Health Mission (NHM)," said Mr. Chaubey in the written reply.

Telangana has received Rs. 353.13 crore while Andhra Pradesh was given Rs. 324.27 crore. Around Rs. 773.24 crore, the highest, was given to Maharashtra.

Further, states were provided with eight lakh N95 masks, 1.89 lakh PPE kits, 39.5 lakh HCQ tablets, 480 ventilators, 500 Oxygen cylinders, 73,200 Truenat cartridges, 10,100 Xpert COVID cartridges, 66,942 RNA extraction kits, 40,940 viral transport medium (VTM), 168,570 RT-PCR kits, and one automated RNA extraction machine.

Telangana received around 14.85 lakh N-95 masks, 42.5 lakh Hydroxychloroquine tablets, 1,000 Oxygen cylinders, and 1,400 PPE kits, while Andhra Pradesh received 14.85 lakh N95 mask, 31.5 lakh Hydroxychloroquine tablets, 2,474 Oxygen cylinder, and the highest number of PPE kits, 7,960.

Also, Telangana received around 5,84,435 RT-PCR kits, 2,99,508 RNA extraction kits, and 49,300 VTM while Andhra Pradesh received around 2,61,823 RT-PCR kits, 1,84,402 RNA extraction kits, and 1,29,740 VTM.

A total of 1,56,19,336 RT-PCR kits were given to all the states while 84,47,280 RNA extraction kits and 66,50,896 VTM.
