COVID 19: Telangana reports 238 fresh COVID cases, two new deaths on Sunday

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 238 new COVID cases on Sunday taking the overall tally to 2,87,740 in the state.

Two new deaths are reported on January 3, taking the total tally to 1,551. The fatality rate in the state is 0.53 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.4 per cent.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 60 new cases while Rangareddy reported 26 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Medchal Malkajgiri reported 15 new cases while Warangal Urban reported 20 new cases.

Around 57 citizens recovered from the infection on Sunday taking the tally of total recoveries to 2,81,083. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 97.68 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 96.2 per cent.

The government tested 27,077 citizens for the virus on Sunday. So far 70,18,564 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 1,88,569. Still, 525 reports are awaited.

The state currently has 5,106 active cases. Of the total active cases, 2,942 are under home isolation. Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.

According to the state bulletin, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 14.72 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 9.02 per cent of the total cases. The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities
