COVID 19: Telangana reports 253 fresh COVID cases, three new deaths on Monday

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 253 new COVID cases on Monday taking the overall tally to 2,87,993 in the state.

Three new deaths are reported on January 4, taking the total tally to 1,554. The fatality rate in the state is 0.53 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.4 per cent.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 61 new cases while Rangareddy reported 17 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Medchal Malkajgiri reported 18 new cases while Warangal Urban reported 20 new cases.

Around 317 citizens recovered from the infection on Monday taking the tally of total recoveries to 2,81,400.The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 97.71 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 96.3 per cent.

The government tested 42,485 citizens for the virus on Monday. So far 70,61,049 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 1,89,711. Still, 717 reports are awaited.

The state currently has 5,039 active cases. Of the total active cases, 2,793 are under home isolation. Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.

According to the state bulletin, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 14.72 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 9.02 per cent of the total cases. The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities
