COVID 19: AP conducts one crore tests; active cases fall below 10,000

By Newsmeter Network Published on 30 Nov 2020 2:57 AM GMTVijayawada: Andhra Pradesh on Sunday crossed a major milestone of conducting one crore COVID 19 tests in the state, even as the active cases fell below 10,000 for the first time in five months.
The state on Sunday reported 620 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the gross positives to 8,67,683. The state has vastly ramped up its testing and over 50,000 tests have been conducted per day in the last four months.

Officials said the overall infection positivity rate in the state is at 8.66 percent against the national average of 6.73 percent.
In the past 24 hours, as many as 3,787 patients recovered from the virus, thereby pushing the overall recoveries to 8,52,298. Another seven patients succumbed in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 6,988.
The recovery rate shot up significantly to 98.23 percent from 97.86 percent per day. The mortality rate remained stable at 0.81 percent.
On Sunday, West Godavari reported 107 and Guntur 101 fresh cases of COVID-19 while Krishna added 85 and Chittoor 64. The remaining nine districts added less than 50 new cases each.
Worst affected East Godavari district reported less than 50 fresh cases on Sunday for the first time in the last four months. It also saw 2,755 recoveries in a day taking down the active caseload to 1,190 from 3,945.
East Godavari's COVID-19 chart now showed 1,22,246 total positives, 1,20,420 recoveries, and 636 deaths. Guntur has 1,301 active cases, while Krishna district has 1,387 active cases. The remaining ten districts have less than 1,000 each.
