COVID 19: Telangana reports 163 fresh COVID cases, two deaths on Wednesday

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 163 new COVID cases on Wednesday taking the overall tally to 2,97,113 in the state.

Two new deaths are reported on February 17 taking the total death tally to 1,622. The fatality rate in the state is 0.54 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.4 per cent.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 31 new cases while Rangareddy reported 12 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the decrease in cases. Medchal Malkajigir reported 12 cases while Karimnagar reported 9 cases.

Around 101 citizens recovered from the infection on Wednesday taking the tally of total recoveries to 2,93,791. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 98.88 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 97.3 per cent.

The government tested 24,920 citizens for the virus on Wednesday. So far 83,85,870 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 2,25,305. Still, 637 reports are awaited.

The state currently has 1,700 active cases. Of the total active cases, 658 are under home isolation. Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.

According to the state bulletin, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 14.72 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 9.02 per cent of the total cases. The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
