COVID 19: Telangana reports 299 fresh COVID cases, crosses 2L tests per million population

The government tested 33,298 citizens for the virus on Saturday. So far 74,61,687 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 2,00,475.

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 299 new COVID cases on Saturday taking the overall tally to 2,91,666 in the state.

Two new deaths are reported on January 16, taking the total tally to 1,577. The fatality rate in the state is 0.54 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.4 per cent.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 57 new cases while Rangareddy reported 18 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Medchal Malkajgiri reported 26 new cases while Karimnagar reported 24 new cases.

Around 379 citizens recovered from the infection on Saturday taking the tally of total recoveries to 2,85,898. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 98.02 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 96.6 per cent.

The state currently has 4,191 active cases. Of the total active cases, 2,395 are under home isolation. Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.

According to the state bulletin, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 14.72 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 9.02 per cent of the total cases. The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities
