The Centre wrote to all states and Union Territories (UTs) on Thursday and asked them to make necessary arrangements to provide COVID-19 vaccination in these CVCs on all days of the month
By Newsmeter Network Published on 1 April 2021 10:19 AM GMTHyderabad: In a significant step to exponentially expand the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination drive, the Centre has decided to operationalize both public and private sector COVID vaccination centres (CVCs) on all days of April, i.e. from 1 to 30 April 2021.
The Centre wrote to all states and Union Territories (UTs) on Thursday and asked them to make necessary arrangements to provide COVID-19 vaccination in these CVCs on all days of the month, including gazetted holidays during April.
"This step has been taken after detailed deliberations with the states and UTs on 31 March to optimally utilize all COVID vaccination centres across the public and private sectors to ensure a rapid increase in the pace and coverage of COVID vaccination. This decision is in line with the graded and pro-active approach employed by the government of India along with the states and UTs for COVID-19 vaccination," the ministry of health and family welfare said.
It also added that vaccination exercise as a tool to protect the most vulnerable population groups in the country from COVID-19 continues to be regularly reviewed and monitored at the highest level.
Meanwhile, amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, the third phase of vaccination will be rolled out across the country from Thursday. All people above the age of 45 will be eligible to take the vaccine.
