COVID 19: Telangana reports 379 fresh COVID cases, three new deaths on Wednesday

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 379 new COVID cases on Wednesday taking the overall tally to 2,88,789 in the state.

Three new deaths are reported on January 6, taking the total tally to 1,559. The fatality rate in the state is 0.53 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.4 per cent.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 71 new cases while Rangareddy reported 36 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Medchal Malkajgiri reported 37 new cases while Karimnagar reported 19 new cases.

Around 305 citizens recovered from the infection on Wednesday taking the tally of total recoveries to 2,82,177. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 97.71 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 96.4 per cent.

The government tested 41,246 citizens for the virus on Wednesday. So far 71,45,613 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 1,91,983. Still, 453 reports are awaited.

The state currently has 5,053 active cases. Of the total active cases, 2,776 are under home isolation. Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.

According to the state bulletin, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 14.72 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 9.02 per cent of the total cases. The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities
