Hyderabad: Mayor, Dr. Bonthu Rammohan, checked the preparedness for the distribution of Covid-19 vaccine in the GHMC circle, in a meeting with the district medical officers and the district immunisation officers on Monday.

In the meeting, the mayor instructed the officials to identify 1,100 centres, including government schools, and colleges, where sufficient place is available for a vaccination centre to be temporarily set up. The preliminary work of identifying and mapping the centres should be completed by 10 January, 2021.

Further, an awareness campaign on the vaccination will be held where it will be explained how the vaccine will be administered in a phased manner in an attempt to ward off fears surrounding the subject.

In the first phase, the Covid-19 vaccine will be administered to the healthcare workers such as nurses, paramedic staff and so on. In the second phase the police and the municipal workers will be given the vaccine, and in the third phase vaccine will be given to persons above the age of 50 and those below 50 years of age with chronic ailments.

Commissioner, GHMC Lokesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner Health, Badhavath Santosh, CMOH Padmaja, district medical officers and district immunisation officers of Ranga Reddy, Medchal and Ranga Reddy attended the meeting.
