Telangana man who died after vaccination, suffered from heart ailments

Hyderabad: On January 20, Telangana reported death of a 42-year-old healthcare worker hours after being vaccinated with COVID19 vaccine in Nirmal district. The deceased Vittal was a '108' ambulance driver. This is the first case reported in the state, and the cause of his death is currently being evaluated.
Speaking to NewsMeter, the District Collector of Nirmal Mr Musharraf Faruqui said that the man was in observation for half an hour after vaccination on January 19. "He was stable, and in observation, he did not have any complaints till the evening. He even worked after the vaccination; no symptoms could be linked to the respiratory system or congestion in the lungs while he was working," said the district collector.
According to Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, the healthcare worker was given the jab of COVID19 vaccine on January 19 at around 11:30 am at Kuntala Primary Health Centre. "At about 2:30 am on January 20, he is said to have developed chest pain and was brought dead to District Hospital, Nirmal at 5:30 am," said Dr G Srinivas Rao, Director of Public Health
"The man was suffering from frequent heart ailments, and we are yet to receive a report from the health department and other than that we have no other findings. The family informed that the man suffered chest congestion in the night, after which he was shifted to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. His death is under evaluation. We are waiting for post-mortem report," said the district collector.
The district collector also informed that he was given Covishield vaccine. "We are strictly following the guidelines; post-observation is the critical part; we are regularly observing the beneficiary after the vaccination. If something had to do with COVID or vaccine, he would have felt nausea, but nothing was there, he did not feel the uneasiness while breathing, Later on, he complains about a heart problem, that has to be seen," said the district collector.
The district collector also asserted that the vaccine is secure to take. "We have crossed the 1000 vaccination in the district, everybody is fine, the people are taking it. Most importantly, the senior doctors have come forward and taken it; they were the first one to take the vaccine," said the district collector.
He also added that all the beneficiaries are working fine. "Instead of asking the paramedical staff, we have asked the doctors to take it, and they are doing very good, district immunization officer, area hospital superintendent all of them have taken the vaccinated, they are doing fine. If there will be any apprehension, we will convince the people," added the district collector.
