Telangana reports 1,321 new COVID19 cases, GHMC areas add 320 cases
The last time the state reported more than 1,300 cases were on November 7, 2020 when the state reported 1,440 cases.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 4 April 2021 4:33 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana reported 1321 new COVID cases on Saturday taking the overall tally to 3,12,140 in the state. The last time the state reported more than 1,300 cases were on November 7, 2020 when the state reported 1,440 cases.
The state reported five new deaths on April 3 taking the total death toll to 1,717. The fatality rate in the state is 0.55 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.3 per cent.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area on Saturday reported 320 new cases. The neighbouring Rangareddy district reported 121 new cases. Medchal Malkajgiri reported 144 and Sangareddy 24 new cases.
Other districts of Telangana are also seeing a surge in cases. Nizamabad on Saturday reported 96 new cases while Nirmal and Jagtiyal reported 64 cases each.
Around 293 citizens recovered from the infection on Saturday taking total recoveries to 3,02,500 in the state. The recovery rate, as per the government, now stands at 96.91 per cent, which is approximately three per cent higher than the national average of 93.1 percent. The state has 7,923 active cases currently of which 3,866 are under home isolation.
The government tested 62,973 citizens on Saturday. So far 1,03,92,927 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 2,79,229. Reports of 2,070 samples are awaited. The state tested 47.5 per cent primary contacts while 13.4 per cent secondary contacts.
There are only 20 Government RT-PCR / CBNAAT / TRUENAT centres in the state. Around 60 private centres too are operational. On Saturday, 53,960 tests were conducted at Government centres.
Also, out of total infection, 75.5 per cent were asymptomatic while 21.5 per cent are symptomatic.
Meanwhile, India has recorded a massive surge of 93,249 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's total tally to 1,24,85,509. The current caseload is 16,91,597. The death toll from the deadly infection stands at 1,64,623.
