COVID-19: 30 wards in Vijayawada declared as containment zones
By Newsmeter Network Published on 23 March 2020 8:03 AM GMTVijayawada: After the confirmation of the first Coronavirus positive case at Mekavari Street of Kothapeta area in Vijayawada city, a total of 30 wards under Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC), which falls within 3 kms radius zone from the Kothapeta area have been declared as containment zones.
The district administration has alerted and swung into action to take all precautionary measures to contain the spread of the virus.
Krishna District Collector Md Imtiaz said that they have decided to seal the entire 3 kms radius of geographical area, barring entry and exit of population from here. The authorities have also closed down schools, cinema halls, commercial establishments, offices and banned public gatherings and vehicular movement in the above wards.
The Collector also said that the hospital isolation of all suspected Coronavirus cases, as well as designation of government buildings for containment units and the staff of all government departments will be at the disposal of District administration.
Apart from the measures , 12 check posts have been placed within this 3 km zone with officials from police, health and sanitation departments for round-the-clock services to curtail the movement of the public vehicles.
