COVID-19: Andhra reports record 62 deaths in single day, toll rises to 758
By Newsmeter Network Published on 21 July 2020 2:26 PM GMTVijayawada: Andhra Pradesh, on 21 July, recorded 62 COVID-19 deaths, the highest deaths in a single day, taking the death toll in the state to 758. Also, the total number of cases reached 58,668 as another 4,944 new cases were reported on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, 1,232 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals across the state in the past 24 hours. So far, 25,574 patients have recovered in Andhra Pradesh, of which 2,259 are from other states and 419 are foreign returnees. The number of active cases now stands at 32,336.
Of the 62 deaths on Tuesday, East Godavari reported 10 deaths, while nine were reported in Vizag. Eight patients died in Chittoor and seven in Srikakulam district.
Six deaths each were reported in Anantapur and West Godavari districts, while five each were reported from Guntur and Prakasam districts. Kurnool reported four deaths, while Vizianagaram and Kadapa districts saw one death each.
As many as 13,86,274 samples have been tested in the state till date. In the past 24 hours, 37,162 samples were tested.
Of the fresh COVID-positive cases, 623 were reported in West Godavari. Guntur reported 577 new cases, Chittoor 560, East Godavari 524, Kurnool 515, Anantapur 458, Krishna 424, Kadapa 322, Visakhapatnam 230, and Vizianagaram 210.
For the second consecutive day, no cases were reported among people who had returned from other states and countries.
