Covid-19 case load increases to 8,929, death toll climbs to 106 in Andhra Pradesh
By Newsmeter Network Published on 21 Jun 2020 8:32 AM GMTVijayawada: Andhra Pradesh on Sunday recorded a total of 477 Covid-19 cases, while five people died of the virus, taking the infection count to 8,929 and death toll to 106. Three deaths were reported from Krishna district while one death each were reported from Kurnool and Chittoor districts.
A total of 24,451 samples (highest samples in a single day) were tested in the last 24 hours, from Saturday 9am to Sunday 9 am, in the state and among them, 439 people tested positive.
Another 34 people who returned to parts of Andhra Pradesh from other states and
4 foreign returnees tested positive, taking the cumulative total of fresh cases in the state to 477 on Sunday, the second biggest single-day spike in the state. The highest registered was 491 cases on June 20.
With the 439 fresh cases, the total Covid-19 cases load in the state has increased to 7,059. The number of foreign returnees who tested positive now stands at 330 while the cumulative positive cases from other states increased to 1,540.
On the other hand, 151 Covid-19 patients in Andhra Pradesh recovered from the virus and were discharged from hospitals across the state in the last 24 hours.
The total number of those who recovered from the Coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh now stands at 3,354 while the recovered patients from other states stands at 901 and a total of 52 foreign returnees also recovered. Together, over 4,307 patients recovered from the infection in Andhra Pradesh.
With this, the total active Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 4,516 (3,599 from Andhra Pradesh, 639 and 278 from other states and foreign returnees respectively).
On the Covid-19 toll front, Krishna district has reported 36 Covid-19 deaths (highest deaths in the state) followed by Kurnool district with 34 deaths and Guntur district with 11 deaths.
While Anantapur and Chittoor districts witnessed 6 Covid-19 deaths each, East Godavari district reported 5 deaths. Nellore district registered four deaths and Prakasam distric reported two deaths. Vizag and Srikakulam districts reported one death each.
Vizianagaram, West Godavari and Kadapa districts havenāt reported any Covid-19 deaths so far.
