Covid-19 patient escapes from Anantapur hospital, walks 50 km, collapses at Uravakonda

Anantapur: A Covid-19 positive patient allegedly escaped from the government hospital in Anantapur on Tuesday and walked for over 50 km, reaching Uravakonda, where she collapsed. The woman patient was traced near Uravakonda bus station in Anantapur district on Thursday morning.

The district police said, the 55-year-old patient from Kanekal area was admitted to the Covid-19 hospital, a few days ago. Since then, she feared a lot over many things. The woman escaped from the hospital and walked towards Uravakonda from where she decided to take a bus to reach her hometown. However, after walking for 50 km from Anantapur to reach Uravakonda, she collapsed at the bus station while she was waiting for a bus.

The locals in Uravakonda found that the woman, who collapsed near the bus station. On inquiries, it was later found that the lady was the missing patient from Anantapur hospital.

The onlookers dailed 108 ambulance service but due to lack of availability at that time, it didn’t reach the bus station. The officials have sent a hearse vehicle to Uravakonda bus station and she was shifted to the hospital, where her condition is said to be critical, doctors said.
