COVID-19: Schools near Mahendra Hills to be closed for three days
By Newsmeter Network Published on 4 March 2020 4:12 PM ISTHyderabad: With the deadly coronavirus having hit the city and a 24-year-old, who tested positive undergoing treatment in an isolation ward at Gandhi Hospital, alarm has risen following reports of two more cases in the state and whose samples have been sent to NIV Pune.
As the first case is of a person from Mahendra Hills, some schools in the vicinity have announced three days closure. They include Auxilium High School, Delhi Public School, St Francis Convent School, Amrita Vidyalayam, and Bachpan School. Even the staff has been asked to go home, as a precautionary measure.
There is also a residence for children, who study in government schools at Addagutta and Marredpally. They all have been sent home.
Mahendra Hills area, which is generally less-crowded, wears a deserted look. The few venturing out of their homes come wearing masks.
As the sanitation department took up cleanliness and awareness drives on Wednesday, GHMC officials have also launched similar exercises.
