COVID 19: Telangana crosses 1 lakh total COVID cases, 744 deaths
By Newsmeter Network Published on 22 Aug 2020 4:08 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana on Friday crossed the 1 lakh COVID positive cases in the state. It also reported the highest single-day spike of 2,474 new COVID cases taking the overall tally to 1,01,864.
It took 174 days to reach 1 lakh cases in the state. The first positive COVID case in the state was reported on March 2. Telangana is the ninth state in the country to report more than one lakh cases.
Seven new deaths are reported on August 21 taking the total tally to 744. The fatality rate in the state is 0.73 per cent which is less than the national average of 1. 89 per cent.
Around 1,768 citizens recovered from the infection on Friday taking the tally of total recoveries to 78,735. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 77.29 per cent, which is approximately three per cent higher than the national average of 74.30 per cent.
The state currently has 22,386 active cases.
The government tested 43,095 citizens for the virus on Friday. So far 8,91,173 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 24,004.
Of the total cases, 15,931 are under home isolation. Of those, 84 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress.
According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 17.2 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.1 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 53.87 per cent. 46.13 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
Vacancy of beds:
The state currently has 18,007 vacant beds for COVID patients.
Around 11,567 isolation beds, 4,801 oxygen beds, and 1,639 ICU beds are lying vacant in different state hospitals.
