COVID 19: Telangana death toll crosses 1,000 mark, 2,159 fresh cases on Monday
By Newsmeter Network Published on 17 Sep 2020 4:44 AM GMTHyderabad: Nine new deaths are reported on September 16 taking the total tally to 1005. The fatality rate in the state is 0.61 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.64 per cent.
Telangana reported 2,159 new COVID cases on Wednesday taking the overall tally to 1,65,003 in the state.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 318 new cases while Rangareddy reported 176 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Siddipet reported 132 new cases while Karimnagae reported 127 new cases.
Around 2,108 citizens recovered from the infection on Wednesday taking the tally of total recoveries to 1,33,555. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 80.94 per cent, which approximately two per cent higher than the national average of 78.59 per cent.
The government tested 53,094 citizens for the virus on Wednesday. So far 23,29,316 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 52,740.
The state currently has 30,443 active cases.
Of the total cases, 23,674 are under home isolation. Of those, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.
According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 15.54 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.91 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 53.87 per cent. 46.13 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
Vacancy of beds:
The state currently has 17,842 vacant beds for COVID patients.
Around 11,952 isolation beds, 4,385 oxygen beds, and 1,505 ICU beds are lying vacant in different state hospitals.
