COVID 19: Telangana death toll crosses 1,200 mark, 1,896 fresh COVID cases on Wednesday
By Newsmeter Network Published on 8 Oct 2020 5:19 AM GMTHyderabad: Twelve new deaths are reported on October 7 taking the total tally to 1,201. The fatality rate in the state is 0.58 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.5 per cent.
Telangana reported 1,896 new COVID cases on Wednesday taking the overall tally to 2,06,644 in the state.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 294 new cases while Rangareddy reported 211 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Medchal Malkajigiri reported 154 new cases while Nalgonda reported 126 new cases.
Around 2,067 citizens recovered from the infection on Wednesday taking the tally of total recoveries to 1,79,075. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 86.65 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 85.2 per cent.
The government tested 50,367 citizens for the virus on Wednesday So far 33,96,839 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 91,264. Still, 1,363 reports are awaited. 22,161 primary contacts are tested on Wednesday while 6,044 secondary contacts are tested.
The state currently has 26,368 active cases. Of the total active cases, 21,724 are under home isolation.
Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.
According to the state, men aged between 21 and 40 years contribute to 29.98 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.85 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
