COVID 19: Telangana reports 1,456 fresh COVID cases, Five deaths on Wednesday
By Newsmeter Network Published on 22 Oct 2020 4:01 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana reported 1,456 new COVID cases on Wednesday taking the overall tally to 2,26,124 in the state.
Five new deaths are reported on October 21 taking the total tally to 1,292. The fatality rate in the state is 0.56 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.5 per cent.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 254 new cases while Rangareddy reported 98 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Medchal Malkajigiri reported 98 new cases while Khammam reported 89 new cases.
Around 1,717 citizens recovered from the infection on Wednesday taking the tally of total recoveries to 2,06,105. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 90.56 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 89.2 per cent.
The government tested 38,565 citizens for the virus on Wednesday. So far 39,78,869 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 1,06,901. Still, 1,110 reports are awaited. 16,968 primary contacts are tested on Wednesday while 4,627 secondary contacts are tested.
The state currently has 20,183 active cases. Of the total active cases, 16,977 are under home isolation.
Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.
According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 14.72 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 9.02 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
