COVID 19: Telangana reports 1,579 fresh COVID cases, Five deaths on Tuesday
By Newsmeter Network Published on 21 Oct 2020 3:03 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana reported 1,579 new COVID cases on Tuesday taking the overall tally to 2,26,124 in the state.
Five new deaths are reported on October 20 taking the total tally to 1,287. The fatality rate in the state is 0.56 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.5 per cent.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 256 new cases while Rangareddy reported 102 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Medchal Malkajigiri reported 135 new cases while Khammam reported 106 new cases.
Around 1,811 citizens recovered from the infection on Tuesday taking the tally of total recoveries to 2,04,388. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 90.38 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 88.8 per cent.
The government tested 41,475 citizens for the virus on Tuesday. So far 39,40,304 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 1,05,865. Still, 1,120 reports are awaited. 18,249 primary contacts are tested on Monday while 4,977 secondary contacts are tested.
The state currently has 20,449 active cases. Of the total active cases, 17,071 are under home isolation.
Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.
According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 14.72 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 9.02 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 55.04 per cent. 44.96 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
