COVID 19: Telangana reports 1,724 fresh COVID cases, crosses 8 lakh test mark
By Newsmeter Network Published on 20 Aug 2020 3:24 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana reported 1,724 new COVID cases on Wednesday taking the overall tally to 97,424 in the state.
Ten new deaths are reported on August 19 taking the total tally to 729. The fatality rate in the state is 0.74 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.91 per cent.
Around 1,195 citizens recovered from the infection on Wednesday taking the tally of total recoveries to 75,186. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 77.17 per cent, which is approximately four per cent higher than the national average of 73.64 per cent.
The state currently has 21,509 active cases.
The government tested 23,841 citizens for the virus on Wednesday. So far 8,21,311 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 22,122.
Of the total cases, 15,076 are under home isolation. Of those, 84 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress.
According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 17.2 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.1 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 53.87 per cent. 46.13 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
Vacancy of beds:
The state currently has 17,949 vacant beds for COVID patients.
Around 11,539 isolation beds, 4,814 oxygen beds, and 1,596 ICU beds are lying vacant in different state hospitals.
