COVID 19: Telangana reports 2,176 fresh COVID cases, Eight deaths on Wednesday
By Newsmeter Network Published on 24 Sep 2020 4:24 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana reported 2,176 new COVID cases on Wednesday taking the overall tally to 1,79,246 in the state.
Eight new deaths are reported on September 23 taking the total tally to 1,070. The fatality rate in the state is 0.59 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.59 per cent.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area reported 308 new cases while Rangareddy reported 168 new cases. Districts of Telangana is seeing the increase in cases. Nalgonda reported 136 new cases while Karimnagar reported 120 new cases.
Around 2,004 citizens recovered from the infection on Wednesday taking the tally of total recoveries to 1,48,139. The recovery rate, as per the government now stands at 82.64 per cent, which approximately one per cent higher than the national average of 81.42 per cent.
The government tested 55,318 citizens for the virus on Wednesday. So far 26,84,215 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 72,299. Still, 1,257 reports are awaited. 24,340 primary contacts are tested on Wednesday while 6,638 secondary contacts are tested.
The state currently has 30,037 active cases. Of the total active cases 23,929 are under home isolation.
Of total positive cases, 70 per cent are asymptomatic with no severe signs of distress while 30 per cent are symptomatic.
According to the state, men aged between 31 and 40 years contribute to 15.54 per cent of the total cases. Women aged between 21 and 30 years contribute to 8.91 per cent of the total cases.
The deaths due to comorbidities have risen to 53.87 per cent. 46.13 per cent of victims had no comorbidities.
