Covid-19 toll increases to 68 in Andhra Pradesh while tally increases to 3,971

Vijayawada: The Covid-19 death toll increased to 68 in Andhra Pradesh with four more people succumbing to the infection on Wednesday.

The officials of the medical and family welfare department said that Chittoor district reported two Covid-19 deaths while Krishna and Kurnool districts reported one death each in the past 24 hours.

Andhra Pradesh reported 180 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday and the total number of Covid-19 cases has risen to 3,971 in the state, including 573 patients from other states and 119 foreign returnees.

A total of 8,067 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in Andhra Pradesh.

The officials said that a total of 49 patients have recovered from the infection and discharged from various hospitals in the state in the last 24 hours. The total number of those recovered from the virus in the state now stands at 2,456, including 211 from others states and one foreign returnee. The number of active Covid-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh is now at 1,447 (967 from Andhra Pradesh, 362 and 118 from other states and foreign returnees respectively).

Kurnool district has reported 26 Covid-19 deaths (highest in the state) followed by Krishna district with 19 deaths and Guntur district with 8 deaths.

Nellore, Chittoor and Anantapur districts have reported four Covid-19 deaths each while East Godavari district reported two deaths. Visakhapatnam district reported one death. Andhra Pradesh continues to top the table among other states in the conduct of Covid-19 tests per million.
